Poiesis & Praxis. The first International Journal of Technology Assessment and Ethics of Science
Poiesis & Praxis is conceived as an inter-disciplinary forum for reflection and deliberation on the scientific and technological future of our civilisation. In detail, the contributions collected within the journal will be devoted to:
- Research into the consequences of scientific, technological and bio-medical progress and their relevance to society;
- Reflections on this type of study of consequences in the sense of technology assessment and ethics of science. This will include investigations from the point of view of ethics, law, theory of science, as well as sociology and economics,
- Discussion of the methods, ideas and processes of technology assessment and ethics of science;
- The determination of the relationship between technology assessment and ethics of science on the one hand and politics and society on the other.
Poiesis & Praxis is a scientific peer-reviewed journal primarily aimed at interested parties from universities and non-university research establishments in the fields of philosophy, natural, social and legal sciences, as well as in the medical disciplines. In addition, it addresses decision-makers in political institutions and in business and industry.
Beginning in 2001, Poiesis & Praxis will be published quarterly with approximately 80 pages per issue. The publisher will be the Europäische Akademie Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler GmbH, represented by its Director C. F. Gethmann. Editorship will lie with the Europäische Akademie.
