New Framework Contract for Providing Scientific Services on TA for the European Parliament Starting in 2014
After a call for tenders for a framework contract covering the coming years of TA activities of the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment Panel (STOA), it has now been decided that the European Technology Assessment Group (ETAG) represented by ITAS will continue to support TA activities at the European Parliament by providing TA expertise in the following areas:
- Transport
- Nanoscale Science and Technology
- Life Sciences for Human Well-being
- Agriculture, Food and Biotechnology
- Science, Technology and Innovation Policy
- Safety and Security Technologies
The new framework contract started in March 2014. For the new period, ITAS will cooperate with the following ETAG Partners:
- Teknologirådet, The Danish Board of Technology, Copenhagen, Denmark
- Rathenau Institute, The Hague, The Netherlands
- Institute for Technology Assessment (ITA), Austrian Academy of Science, Vienna, Austria
- VITO, Flemish Institute for Technological Research, Mol, Belgium
- Technology Centre AS CR, Prague, Czech Republic

The new period of work for the European Parliament will hopefully be as fruitful as the last one. In January 2014, ETAG completed the last projects under the framework contract for the period 2009–2013. During that period ETAG successfully carried out the following TA studies on behalf of STOA:
