Abstract

The real world laboratory complex “District Future” has a long-standing tradition of participation, which will be presented in this paper. First, the participation intensity of different formats applied in the real world laboratory will be discussed, using a five-step-model of participation. Secondly, an overview will be given regarding the timeline and quality of the participatory continuum “District Future”. Finally, some conclusions will be presented on how to design participation in real word labs – with far-reaching implications.
