Abstract

Citizens are increasingly involved in shaping science, policy and technology. A "participatory turn" can be observed, which emphasizes the important role of deliberative processes. In this interview, Patrizia Nanz also calls for citizens to be given responsibility, as she believes that future complex challenges can only be met in a cooperative mode. How we want to live (more sustainably) in the future must be decided together with citizens in dialog-oriented processes. Expert knowledge alone, for example in the search for a site for a repository for highly radioactive waste, is not enough.
